The first dance

The first dance occurs after the wedding breakfast between the bride and groom. They take to the dance floor and all of their guests look on appreciatively as they glide elagantly around. Or at least that is the idea!

The first dance ranges between the bride and groom shuffling around to the dance from dirty dancing complete with the lift (have a look on youtube if you don‘t believe me)!

However if the idea of dancing with you beloved while all eyes are on you fills you with dread then there is hope. Many companies have sprung up that cater to the nervous couple and will teach you to dance. You get to choose your music so you can learn whatever type of dance you wish.

In Edinburgh we are also lucky enough to have dancebase – Scotland‘s national center for dance that runs buget friendly dance classes. This is what I did. We choose ballroom dancing and attended a 3 month beginners course with our best man and his girlfriend. It was great – particularly as my other half felt he couldn‘t dance. We actually got loads of lovely comments from our guests and one of my bridesmaids who is now engaged is going to do the same thing – and we will probably go with her!
